In 2022, China's Pvdf Production Capacity Accounted for 60% of The Global Capacity.

According to the "China Fluorine Silicon Industry Operation Briefing (Issue 76)", due to the rapid development of the new energy vehicle industry, the demand for lithium batteries is continuously increasing, and in recent years, especially in 2022, the production capacity of PVDF has been intensively released. It is estimated that by the end of 2022, the global production capacity of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) will reach 169,500 tons/year, of which China's PVDF production capacity is about 103,100 tons/year, accounting for about 60% of the global PVDF production capacity, an increase of 103% compared to 2021.
According to public information reports, the global PVDF production capacity under construction is about 171,300 tons, with 82% invested and constructed by Chinese companies; in addition, there are plans for an additional PVDF production capacity of about 312,000 tons globally, with 85% planned to be invested by Chinese companies.

Since the production started in mid-May 2022, Solvay Group has more than doubled the output of high-performance polymer Solef® PVDF at the Changshu production base. Additionally, based on the announcement of doubling the PVDF production capacity at the Changshu plant, Solvay is investing 300 million euros in Europe to increase PVDF capacity to 35,000 tons, making it the largest PVDF production base in the region. This investment is expected to be completed by December 2023.

According to a report by PR Newswire on January 27, 2022: Arkema has now announced that the increase in fluoropolymer production capacity at its Changshu base in China has been raised from the previously announced 35% to 50%, with the new capacity expected to be put into production on schedule. Arkema also recently announced a 50% increase in PVDF capacity at its Pierre-Bénite plant in France, with the new capacity planned to be put into production in the first quarter of 2023.
4. On October 2, 2022, the Petrochemical Industry Going Out Alliance reported: Currently, India's GFL has a PVDF production unit with a capacity of 1,200 tons/year; the company expects to commission four production units in the 2023 fiscal year, which will bring its total PVDF capacity to 4,800 tons/year. In the medium term, it expects PVDF capacity to leap to 12,000 tons/year, of which 9,600 tons/year may be dedicated to battery-grade.
